Craggy Pinnacle Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway

This is a light, rated easy trail off of the Blue Ridge Drive.  A foggy morning had this route feeling majestic, however prevented us from the 360 degree mountain views at the top.  Please check AllTrails or another blog for photos from a clear day.

The Details

Location: Off Blue Ridge Parkway, about 40 minutes from Downtown Asheville, North Carolina.

When to visit: Depends what you’re looking for- dry season has a smaller possibility of rain but is notably more expensive.  I visited during the rainy season and loved our afternoon hikes (dodging storms)

Parking: Lower and upper parking lot.  Walk up a small set of stairs past the two outhouses and the trail marker shows where the route clearly begins

Hit the trail

Walk up a small set of stairs past the two outhouses and the trail marker shows where the route clearly begins.  There are not trail markers throughout but it is super easy to navigate as the trail is an out and back that goes in a straight line.  There are many steeps and it may feel mildly steep at some points as you make your way higher up the hill to your mountain (or fog!) views.

That’s that!  We hope you enjoy your hike at Craggy Pinnacle, or that we have been able to inspire some hiking-lust.  If you have visited and have additional tips, feel free to comment below!
