5 Places to Go for an Amazing Puerto Rico Girls Trip [2025]

Tall palm trees swaying along a sunlit pathway leading to a tranquil beach in Puerto Rico, capturing the tropical paradise atmosphere ideal for a Puerto Rico itinerary.

Are you planning a girls’ trip to Puerto Rico? This is the guide for you!

Puerto Rico, located in the Caribbean, boasts an incredible culture and stunning beaches that attract visitors from around the world every year.

I spent a week in Puerto Rico last winter and have tons of tips to help you plan a seamless trip.

From vibrant nightlife to stunning beaches and lush rainforests, Puerto Rico offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure for you and your friends.

Some of the best destinations to take a girls’ trip in Puerto Rico are Old San Juan, El Yunque Rain Forest, Luquillo, Guanica, and Utuado. Let’s start planning!

5 Places to Go for an Amazing Puerto Rico Girls Trip

1. Old San Juan

Fort Morro in Old San Juan

Old San Juan is a perfect starting point on any Puerto Rico itinerary! Located just 12 minutes from the airport, it’s a convenient starting point. You can easily spend a full day or even your entire trip here.

Basing yourself in San Juan allows for exploration of other neighborhoods like Ocean Park, Condado, and Santurce.

Be sure to visit La Fortaleza and Fort Morro, and enjoy wandering the colorful, cobblestone streets. These are some of the best things to do in Old San Juan.

Exploring Old San Juan is easy on your own or you can join a free walking tour, which provides great tips and recommendations. Just remember to tip your guide at the end! I booked mine here.

Tip: Head to Barrachina and try a pina colada where it was originally invented (or so they say!) Make a reservation for larger groups. (When I visited San Juan during Christmas, it was packed).

Old San Juan Restaurant Recommendations:

  • Mallorca
  • Manolin
  • Choco Bar Cafe
  • Barrachina

2. El Yunque

El Yunque Trail

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the US National Parks!

This stunning destination offers an incredible jungle adventure, featuring a variety of activities for every type of traveler.

Whether you prefer a relaxing picnic amidst lush greenery, breathtaking drive-up viewpoints, challenging hikes through diverse ecosystems, or refreshing swims in picturesque waterfalls, El Yunque has something for everyone to enjoy.

Accessing El Yunque is easy. Rent a car from Old San Juan Airport or hop on a day tour from San Juan.

Tip: I recommend booking a rental car in advance to secure a good deal.  The only rental car agencies in San Juan are located at the airport.

3. Luquillo

Luquillo is a lowkey, beautiful beach town only 10 minutes from El Yunque!

Combining Luquillo and El Yunque provides the best balance of jungle exploring and beach relaxation, all within a short driving distance.

Some of the best things to do on a girls’ trip in Luquillo are renting kayaks at the beach, and enjoying food from one of the 60 kiosks! Kiosks feature shopping, food, drinks, and more.

If you are looking for an evening adventure, the ever-popular bio bay tours begin in Fajardo.  Fajardo is only 10 minutes from Luquillo.  It is not possible to enter the bio bay without a guide, so booking a tour is a requirement.

Tip: Book a Fajardo Tour far in advance if you are traveling during high season.

4. Guanica

Guanica Dry Forest

Guanica is one of my favorite destinations in Puerto Rico!

Guanica is a beautiful town located in Southern Puerto Rico, just under two hours by car from San Juan.

You could easily spend your entire vacation relaxing at the beautiful Copamarina Resort, but the area offers so much more to explore.

For adventure seekers, kayaking to Gilligan’s Island provides the perfect blend of excitement and Caribbean relaxation. You can rent kayaks directly from the Copamarina, even if you are only visiting for the day.

Some of the other best things to do in Guanica include Finca El Girasol Sunflower Field, Guanica Dry Forest, and a short drive to the neighboring towns of Yauco and Ponce.

Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, Guanica has something for everyone.

Tip: The sunflower field, Finca El Girasol, is an amazing stop for girls’ trip photos!

Where to Eat in Guanica

  • El Desafio
  • King’s Cream

5. Utuado

Cañon Blanco in Utuado

The mountainous region of Puerto Rico remains a hidden gem to most tourists.

For whatever reason, the incredible mountain towns in the middle of the island remain quite off the beaten path.

I loved visiting Utuado and learning about the culture.

Some of the best girls’ trip adventure activities are the exciting Cañon Blanco or a plethora of water activities with Tanamá River Adventures.

Tip: If you want to spend more time in the mountain region of Puerto Rico, combine your visit with Jayuya or Torro Negro Forest Preserve.

Puerto Rico offers an exciting array of destinations perfect for a memorable girls’ weekend.
