Searching for the best Instagram spots in Barcelona on your upcoming trip?  Look no further!

This detailed outline of the 11 best Instagram spots in Barcelona has got you covered!

Barcelona is an extremely colorful, modern, metropolitan city.

Thanks to its influence from famous artist, Anthony Gaudi, the city is splashed with unique color and gothic architecture.  There is something unique to be explored (and photographed!) around every winding corner.

My favorite photo spots in the city are the infamous Park Güell, La Sagrada Familia, and Montjuic Hill (where you can even ride a cable car to get to the top- highly recommend).

Other noteworthy mentions include La Sagrada Familia, La Boqueria, and Casa Batllo.

From beach views to hidden alleyways, the city’s Instagram-worthy spots are endless.

Get your cameras ready and explore these must-visit locations for that perfect shot!

Viewpoints

Montjuïc

Montjuïc Hill is one of the best viewpoints in the entire city of Barcelona.

There are tons of different places to catch the best views from as well.  It’s one of my favorite options on a 4-day Barcelona itinerary or even if you only have 24 hours in Barcelona

Bonus: The “Magic Fountain” is also located here.  If you have the time, visit on a night where they are featuring a free musical light show at the fountain.

Olympic Swimming Pools

Olympic swimming pool in Barcelona with a panoramic city view at sunset, highlighting a perfect spot for sports enthusiasts on a Barcelona itinerary.

There are two Olympic swimming pools located in Montjuïc, Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc and Piscina Picornell.  They offer some of the best views in Barcelona as well, plus they’re free!

You can get to both of these pools from the Montjuïc cable car or public transportation, or a long walk (more like a hike!) route.

The Piscina Municipal can be directly accessed by taking the bus to the “Parc de Montjuïc” stop, whereas the Picornell pools are closest to the “Espanya” metro station.

The unique vantage point from these pools offers a rare perspective of Barcelona’s urban landscape, blending the vibrancy of city life with the tranquility of water.

Bunkers Del Carmel

Bunkers Del Carmel is one of the most famous viewpoints in Barcelona.  I didn’t have time to make it here during my 3 days in Barcelona, but it is at the top of many lists for good reason!

The bunkers were originally built as anti-aircraft fortifications during the Spanish Civil War, but now they offer panoramic views of the entire city.  I’ve heard it’s especially beautiful at sunset or sunrise.

Parks

Park Güell

Park Güell provides one of the most iconic photo opportunities in all of Barcelona.

The overview of Barcelona from its colorful, mosaic-tiled benches is simply one of the best Instagram spots in the city.

This is one of the first photos that pops up for viewers searching for Barcelona!

General admission entrance tickets to the park cost 10 euros.  I recommend arriving early to beat the crowds (as much as possible!)

Arc de Triomf

Arc de Triomf marks the entrance into La Ciutadella Park.  This is one of the biggest green spaces in all of Barcelona.

There are lots of festivities for photo opportunities right in front of the arches, like people blowing bubbles and more.

Bonus: La Ciutadella Par also features the Cascada Monumental Fountain, one of its best features.  People love taking photographs of the fountain!

Architecture

Casa Mila

Casa Mila, also known as La Pedrera, is celebrated for its unique art form, characterized by its avant-garde, undulating stone facade, and wrought iron decorations on the balconies and windows, designed by the innovative architect Antoni Gaudí.

The extraordinary exterior, with its natural stone that varies in color and texture, provides a distinct and photogenic backdrop.

The rooftop of Casa Mila is equally fascinating, offering unmatched photo opportunities due to its whimsical chimney structures, known as “witch scarecrows,” and the sinuous, dragon spine-like walkways.

Casa Batllo

The whimsical facade of Casa Batlló in Barcelona, a masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí with its organic shapes and colorful mosaics, an architectural wonder for any Barcelona itinerary.

Another of the infamous Anthony Gaudi’s wonders is Casa Battlo

Casa Batllo is the famous, whimsically designed turquoise and purple building.

Its hints of gothic architecture with skull-like balconies make it one of the most recognizable buildings in all of Barcelona.

Consider visiting inside (for a fee) to admire the unique architecture first-hand!

La Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia is by far one of the most famous attractions in Barcelona.  Its vibrant, stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and tons of different architectural styles make this building an architectural wonder.

After over 100 years, it is still under construction today with a tentative completion date by 2026.

Barcelona Cathedral

Picturesque street view in Barcelona, showcasing the traditional European architecture and balconies, a snapshot capturing the essence of a Barcelona walking tour.

The Barcelona Cathedral is located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.  This is another spot where you can get a two for one of the best Instagram spots in the city!

The Gothic Quarter features medieval, narrow, cobblestone streets.  You can see a view from Barcelona, highlighting the Gothic Quarter itself, from the top of Barcelona Cathedral.

Neighborhoods

La Boqueria

La Boqueria is located about halfway down Barcelona’s busiest pedestrian street, La Rambla.

It is in the Ciut Vella District of Barcelona, approximately a 7-minute walk to the Gothic Quarter.

You can find tons of cultural food inside of the market, like my personal favorite, fresh juice.

The vibrant colors make for amazing photo opportunities!  Especially the bright, fuschia dragon fruit juice.

Gothic Quarter

A tranquil street corner in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, where historical architecture meets contemporary urban life, a cultural fusion to explore on a Barcelona itinerary.

The Gothic Quarter is one of the oldest parts of Barcelona.  This is experienced by the narrow, winding cobblestone roads and the fact that Picasso frequented the area!

There are hidden photo opportunities around every corner.  Some visitors recommend the views from the top of Barcelona Cathedral, or the stunning interior of the UNESCO World Heritage site, Palau de la Música Catalana.

Bonus

Consider extending your Spain itinerary to include the Andalusia region of Spain.

There are tons of stunning photography spots in famous towns like Cordoba, Seville, and Ronda.

Conclusion

Barcelona is a vibrant canvas, offering endless opportunities for capturing photos!

From 2 days in Barcelona to a longer itinerary, you can visit some of the most photographed locations.

From the awe-inspiring architecture of the Sagrada Familia and the historic charm of the Gothic Quarter to the colorful hustle and bustle of La Boqueria Market, photography galore awaits.

With its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture, Barcelona is a photographer’s dream destination.

Spread the love
