Are you spending a day in Omiš, Croatia? This is the guide for you!
I was lucky enough to visit Omiš this summer and can’t say enough good things about it.
Imagine authentic Croatian coastal charm and culture wrapped up in a small town. Fewer crowds and more enjoyment!
I had three full days in Omiš during my trip and have compiled a detailed one-day guide to help you experience the charm of Omiš.
It’s a popular day trip from Split because it’s less than an hour away by car or ferry.
Croatia’s hidden gem on the Dalmatian coast offers the perfect mix of adventure, history, and seaside charm.
Here’s how to make the most of your day in Omiš!
1 Day Omiš Itinerary
Morning
1. Ziplining
Begin your day whooshing and whizzing away over 6,500 feet above the Adriatic Sea!
Soaring through the Cetina River Canyon, the zipline course reaches nearly 500 feet above the canyon floor, offering stunning views and an adrenaline rush.
After a brief training session, you’ll hike about 20 minutes uphill to the first platform.
The entire experience lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours.
Several companies run tours from central Omiš, providing all necessary safety gear and expert guides to ensure a memorable adventure.
You can alternatively sign up for a day tour from Split.
Afternoon
2. Lunch at CaCa
After your morning thrill, enjoy a relaxing lunch in Old Town by the water at CaCa. It’s conveniently located in the Old Town near lots of shops and other restaurants.
CaCa is a local favorite known for fresh Dalmatian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere.
I had a delicious, fresh mozzarella and tomato salad.
It’s the perfect spot to recharge with authentic dishes that highlight the region’s flavors.

3. Relax or Swim at the Beach

Next, unwind at one of Omiš’s beaches.
Slavinj Brzet provides a quieter, rockier shoreline ideal for those wanting a more peaceful setting.
Velika Plaza offers sandy stretches with lounge chair rentals and a lively vibe. I ended up paying 10 euros for a beach lounger here, and it was totally worth it. The views are amazing.
Both beaches are free to access and great for swimming or soaking up the sun!

4. Wine Tasting at Mimica Gastro Shop

Cap off your afternoon with a wine tasting at Mimica Gastro Shop.
Owned by locals passionate about Omiš’s winemaking tradition, the shop offers free tastings of house wines, rakija, and other regional products.
During my visit, we became friends with the owner, Petra! She is so passionate about her family business and enthusiastically educates visitors about the area’s rich wine history.
You can top your visit off with a bottle of her family’s home-made wine for around 13 Euros, which she carefully wraps for travel.
Evening
5. Climb Peovica Fortress (Easy)

As the day cools, climb the Peovica Fortress.
The 10–15 minute climb involves stone steps and narrow passages, rewarding you with stunning panoramic views of the town and sea. I could have spent hours up here!
It’s easily one of the best views over the city. If you want to climb all the way to the top (which I totally recommend), it costs 5 Euros- cash only.
Tip: For a more challenging option, consider hiking to Starigrad Fortress, which sits 860 feet above the town and takes 45–60 minutes.
You would need to do this earlier in the day, perhaps in place of ziplining.
6. Old Town Omis
Explore the charming Old Town’s cobbled streets, medieval walls, and seaside views.
Its unique setting between the canyon and the Adriatic makes wandering here especially memorable as the sun sets!
There are tons of small restaurants and local shops that add to the small-town experience.
7. Dinner at Arsana

End your day with dinner at Arsana, a traditional restaurant tucked in Old Town’s alleys.
I had one of my favorite meals during my entire Croatia trip here!
It’s really a full experience. The servers are passionate as they warmly explain the history of the region’s food. You can choose to order individual items or to try the full tasting menu.
I was so hooked on this place by the end of dinner that I purchased a personal cookbook created by the chef.
