The 606 Trail, Chicago

Explore the city from up above on Chicago’s 606 trail over Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, and Humboldt Park.  Hop on or hop off at one of the many accessible ramps to get a taste of each neighborhood as you go.  Bike it, run it, wheel it, walk it.  Let’s go!

The Details

Location: Chicago- Northwest Side

When to visit: Year-round.  Chicago is known for its plethora of temperatures throughout each season- just check the weather before you go.

Amount of time: A morning or afternoon visit.  The trail is 2.3 miles one way.  Make it a day trip by hopping off the trail to explore the culture of Chicago through its neighborhoods.

Parking:  Lots of free or paid parking is available along the neighborhoods throughout all starting points to the trail.  If you don’t want to figure it out when you get there, check out an app or website like Spot Hero.  I paid $10 for a spot that lasted 12 hours.

Public Transportation: Western Blue Line Station or Damen Blue Line Station.

Where to Begin

You can hop on at one of the many entrances.  It officially begins at Ridgeway/West Trailhead Oasis in Humboldt Park or on the opposite end, Walsh Park/East Trailhead in Wicker Park.  It runs along Chicago’s elevated Bloomingdale Trail.
