Located in the Andalucia region of Southern Spain, Ronda has charm and flare.
Walking on quaint cobblestone roads overlooking the Sierra Nevada Mountains had me falling for Ronda fast.
Ronda sits atop the Tajo Gorge. This means visitors have stellar views of the famous turquoise reservoir.
Ronda is known as one of Andalucia’s Pueblos Blancos. A Pueblo Blanco is known as a white village, and Andalucia is famous for them!
Get ready to be mesmerized by medieval, cobblestone streets surrounded by towering white-washed buildings. Fairytale vibes all around.

Ronda Details
Location
Ronda is located in the Andalucia region of Southern Spain.
Its prime location makes Ronda a popular day trip from neighboring cities like Seville, Cordoba, Granada, and Malaga.
When to visit Ronda
Ronda boasts mild temperatures year-round. Its prime location in the mountains is ideal!
My experience visiting in July provided a welcome 80℉ after spending most of my summer in Southern Spain with temperatures over 100℉!
The following is a list of average temperatures by season:
Winter– 59℉
Spring– 62℉
Summer– 74℉
Fall– 69℉
These temperatures are average. They can range substantially depending on the month and particularly at night.
How many days in Ronda
Ronda in one day is a very popular and doable trip. If you have more time to spare, I recommend spending two days in Ronda to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.
How to get to Ronda
Ronda is commonly visited as a combined trip on an Andalucia itinerary in Southern Spain.
The popular Southern Spain towns make for popular day trips to visit Ronda.
- Malaga to Ronda– 1 hour 15 minutes
- Seville to Ronda– 1 hour 40 minutes
- Cordoba to Ronda– 2 hours 10 minutes
- Granada to Ronda– 2 hours
I caught a BlaBla car from Seville to Ronda simply because it was far more efficient than the bus or train system on the way there. It was an hour-and-a-half road trip from Seville to Ronda.
BlaBla Car tip: You are on the driver’s schedule. We were supposed to leave at 8:00 am but left closer to 9:00 am.
This is common with BlaBla cars. You are paying very cheap fare for a more comfortable ride, and this just goes along with being on someone else’s schedule.
Parking in Ronda Spain
Parking in Ronda Spain is limited. I generally do not recommend driving in towns with narrow streets and cobblestone roads!
If you are staying overnight, I recommend staying in a hotel that offers parking on-site.
I recommend leaving your car in the parking space and traveling around Ronda on foot when possible.

Plaza Del Socorro

Plaza Del Socorro is Ronda’s main square and a leaping-off point for most travelers. There are several quaint breakfast restaurants here to start your day.
It is located only feet away from Ronda’s infamous Puente Nuevo Bridge.

Puente Nuevo Bridge is usually the first picture to pop up when travelers search for Ronda!
Ronda is famous for the Puente Nuevo Bridge and its dramatic views.
It costs 2 euros to walk down a set of steep stairs into the gorge. Tickets can be purchased at the booth on top of the bridge.
Pass the ticket box and continue down the walking path for more tranquil views. There is a restaurant here too! (Views with a price!)
Tip: The Alameda Del Tajo viewpoint is just past the restaurant.

Casa Del Rey Moro

This historical Ronda landmark consists of three parts: Nasrid Era Water Mine, Neo-Mudejar style House, and the Garden designed for the Duchess in 1912.
Fun Fact: Michelle Obama completed a story reading at Casa Del Rey Moro! AND Madonna filmed a music video here!
Cost: 8 euros for adults, 3 euros for children 12 and under or groups of 10+. Tickets can be purchased from the Casa Del Rey Moro website or upon arrival.
Water Mine at Casa Del Rey Morro

I think Casa Del Rey Moro is well worth the 8 euro fee if only to descend the 196ft to the bottom of the water mine!
The best part? The ending point leads you to the bottom of the Tajo Gorge!
The water mine marks a starting point for the reconquest and defense of Ronda.

Tajo Gorge

Tajo Gorge provides the beautiful turquoise waters of Ronda. There are multiple ways visitors can access the Tajo Gorge up close.
My preferred option is at the bottom of the Casa Del Rey Morro water mine.
There are several other options to get to the bottom. These include paying the 2 euro fee to descend the stairs at the top of the Puente Nuevo Bridge or taking the free walking trail beginning from the Old Town side of the bridge.
The Old Town trail is known to be steep and uneven in spots, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a not-so-flat journey!

This is a free garden. It primarily serves as a viewpoint of Casa Del Rey Moro.

Continue on the downhill path, following the beautiful white buildings in the distance.
A few minutes after walking through the spectacular Arco de Felipe V, the Bathhouse will appear.
The last room in the bathhouse featured a video explaining the historical process.
The baths served as a place for chatting, meeting, resting, and cleanliness. It’s no wonder people would spend many hours here at a time.
Typical bath sessions would start in the hot room, and end in the cold room. The same process is used for modern Hammam spas in Europe today.
Cost: 4.50 euros
Old City

Climb a tall staircase to reach Ronda’s white-washed Old City.
Take in the incredible, medieval architecture as you explore this enchanting neighborhood. Ronda’s Old City is the reason it is known as one of Spain’s Pueblos Blancos, or White Villages.
Many locals live here and I always worry about bothering them, but they were so very friendly and smiled as I walked past.
