Have some time for a quick weekend getaway? We arrived on a Friday night, had full day three days, and left to go back home on a Tuesday morning. While we typically enjoy to travel for longer, sometimes our day to day lives are not conducive for this but a quick getaway can help honor your wanderlust (if even for a short time!)
Day 1: Phoenix Chill
There are plenty of lowkey activities you’ll want to enjoy and be able to bask in the Phoenix area.
- Check out the Phoenix Farmer’s Market! This is a lot of fun, and relaxing. (Also spot all the dogs here?!) Full of food carts, fresh foods, clothing stands, and tents for days, there is nothing short of what you can’t find here. I hear great things about the breakfast burrito cart! There was also some delightful essential oil
- We brunch’d over to First Watch. This was some delicious breakfast/lunch food our friend who lives in Phoenix found, and dogs are allowed here! Super yum.
- Other options of right where you are located by at this point includes the following: Phoenix Botanical Gardens ($25 entrance fee), Papago park (including Hole in the Rock).
Time to kick your outdoors into gear. Take a drive or hike through South Mountain Park to the top of the mountain to explore Dobbins Lookout (2,300 feet). Some absolutely stunning views, and room to explore on top. Let it be noted however that it was very crowded mid-day, so if you’re looking for a more remote experience with nature, arriving earlier may be in your favor.
Day 2: Excursion
Rise and shine, very early! Our goal is to hit the road by 6:15am to sunny, California! It’s a Joshua Tree National Park hiking kind of day. Other options of what you could do with this full day would be: day trip to the Grand Canyon, Day trip to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend (all of these wonders are located in the north), day trip to Sedona, etc.
Day 3: Phoenix Hiking
First stop, Papago Park- Hole in The Rock.
Finally,
Finally, it’s time for your big hike of the day at Camelback Mountain.
